Christian Memorials

Pastor Carey opened service at Van's Lake Baptist Church on Sunday May 27th welcoming us all in God's house and sacred time with his guitar and booming voice. How quickly the Holy Spirit touched our eyes, ears and hearts as we joined in voices to all the singing to glorify God; being thankful for all the blessings received. How wonderful it was to be in the house of the Lord where children outnumbered adults! How wonderful it was to be in the house of the Lord with God's sons and daughters from all corners of the nation (Creeks, Cherokee, ..) and be the body of Christ, glorifying God's name. Pastor Carey invited us to look at the book of Joshua and understand the symbolism of "memorials." One key question he invited us all to ponder on is "how would our Christian Memorial look like"?
On this Memorial Day, we remember all our service men and women who sacrifice their lives for freedom.
Our mission trip at The Murrow Indian Home will soon come to an end. Our Christian memorials can be seen through the flowers we planted, the hedges we trimmed, the cottages we painted, the lawn we cut. Our Christian memorials could be heard in the moments of laughter we shared with all the children when we  played with water balloons. Our Christian memorials will for ever live in our hearts every time we look at the pictures taken these past few days, and know that each child is a thread in the beautiful Christian quilt embraced by God. A humble honor as a pastor to accompany our team from Massachusetts  and create new Christian memorials in Muskogee. Glory be to God.
